(Post 49) Rough Cut

Image
Our rough cut includes all footage which we filmed on two separate days except the performance of an actor playing the piano which we are still missing. At several point during the video, the screen goes blank which are the sequences which will later show the performance part of the music video. Besides adding the performance to the rough cut, there are a few things that we would like to change. First of all, we are still unsure about the colour correction which we added in Premiere Pro. It is only a very light filter which makes the footage look warmer and gives the shadows a purple tint, however we would like to experiment more with different filters to see which one fits the final video best.  When planning our music video we were also thinking about adding a little intro like the sound of the piano chair moving. This would give the video a little more of a story before the footage even shows up on screen.  The story is another problem we have. Right now, without th...

(Post 46) Final Song Choice

Image
Patrick Watson - Lighthouse   Other music videos: Is there a common theme to his videos? The first music video I embedded of the song 'Broken' shows lights a car passes driving at night. Occasionally, faces of other people including the artist appear as an overlay over the shots of the lights. Not a lot is happening in the video and even though it seems like it is not following a certain storyline, the video suits the lyrics of the song. Lines such as ' Tell me where we're going tonight, tell me where we're going so fast' suit the car driving past the neon lights at night.  The second video of the song 'Places you will go' is a one-take lip-syncing performance using different effects to make the heads of the performers bigger. This and the video for the song 'Into giants' are the only lip-syncing songs I could find.  This video follows a storyline and is probably the most entertaining video out of all of the above. Ho...

(Post 45) Final setting(s)

We have decided to cut down on some of our locations and settings to make the filming process shorter and easier as we are struggling to find days where all our group and cast are available. We will still go to happisburgh lighthouse and uses Evie’s garden, sisland woods and we still hope to use Hendenham House for our indoor performance scenes. However our other settings (Bungay common and shotesham ford) we have decided not to use because they aren’t as unique and wouldn’t bring muh more to our music video and practically they aren’t very convenient.

(Post 44) Final props list

No changes have been made to the props list since the planning post so we are working from that.

(Post 43) Final Costume and Make Up

No changes have been made to the costume and make-up since the planning post so we are working from that. We still want to use the same style of make up and costumes because it gave a successful feel to the video.

(Post 42) Final Character(s) and Casting

No changes have been made to the characters, we are still having the three young siblings and the artist as described in the planning character and casting post. However we are having to make slight changes to our casting of these characters. We originally wanted Millie Wykes to play our eldest sister however due to her going away we weren’t able to use her. We then decided on Maddie Wilson however we are currently struggling to find the availability with her. Millie has now returned so we are thinking about using her again although we are still waiting for confirmation. Other than this everything is staying the same as the planning post.

(Post 41) Final Script/Stage Direction/Synopsis

No changes have been made to the script/stage directions/synopsis since the planning post so we are working from that.

(Post 40) Final Storyboards

No changes have been made to the storyboards since the planning post so we are working from that.

(Post 39) Final, Final Idea Based On Planning

Our final storyline idea for our music video involves three children exploring their surroundings in order to escape the reality of their everyday life. Abused by their father, they find happiness in the nature and places around them. At the end of our music video it will become clear that the little boy who is one of the three children is the artist performing the song telling the story of his upbringing through his song.

These are some screenshots from Megan Lansdell's media blog and I think her work is at a Level 4 standard. She has included a detailed description of her character profiles and what all the different aspects mean and why she wants to create them. These are some screenshots from lily ray's year 13 media blog. I have compared her work to my own and i feel like her work is at level 4. (Post 35) Planning Rehearsal Footage

Image
For our rehearsal we have mainly used already existing footage of projects we have worked on previously. Our music video will not have a specific form of acting which is why the footage we already had was more suitable. Most clips of Jess are shot at random however, this is what we  are planning to do for our music video, rather than staging any scenes in terms of the body language. The footage of Mike and Herbie is from a previous project and shows more of their acting abilities. Resulting from these rehearsals we are going to focus more on Jess's abilities in front of the camera as she has less experience. Mike and Herbie will need less directions as they have more acting experience.  Additionally, we need to rehears our 4th actor which haven't done yet because we are having issues with finding a 4th person who is able to take part.

(Post 34) Planning- Directorial Style

Image
Shutterstock, one of the internet's largest sources of stock media of all types, put together a tribute to 5 of the most famous American film directors today; Wes Anderson, David Fincher, Quentin Tarantino, Alfonso CuarĂ³n and Terrence Malick. All the footage demonstrates the different directing styles the film directors are so well known for.  For example, Wes Anderson   the director of  Moonrise Kingdom, The Royal Tenenbaums,  and The Grand Budapest Hotel, has  a distinct colour palette that links everything from a the production design to the outfits.   His frames are known to be kept stationary, preferably in straight-on fashion making the shots  feel as if they are part of a painting  which most directors usually avoid because it prevents the scene from taking on a three-dimensional feel. David  Fincher , the  director of films such as Gone Girl  and  Fight Club,  integrates impossible camera angles and transition...

(Post 33) Planning- Editing

Image
Images of annotated script showing we you envisage longer and shorter takes, to establish emotion or generate pace, action and intensity as well as t ransitions between scenes and shots and the style of transitions we are looking to use. The longest take in our music video will be a tracking shot of about 23 seconds. This will simply be of the performer playing the piano, as this scene will cover an instrumental part of the song that doesn’t include any singing. The shot will start from behind the performer looking at his hands playing the piano, then the camera will smoothly and gradually move around the piano. After about 16 seconds, the camera should be positioned exactly at the top of the piano making the instrument and the performer stand right in the centre of the shot. The last 16 seconds of the tracking shot will be the same as the first part until the camera is filming the behind of the performer again.  Another interesting editing style will be the short-reve...
