(Post 49) Rough Cut
Our rough cut includes all footage which we filmed on two separate days except the performance of an actor playing the piano which we are still missing. At several point during the video, the screen goes blank which are the sequences which will later show the performance part of the music video.
Besides adding the performance to the rough cut, there are a few things that we would like to change. First of all, we are still unsure about the colour correction which we added in Premiere Pro. It is only a very light filter which makes the footage look warmer and gives the shadows a purple tint, however we would like to experiment more with different filters to see which one fits the final video best.
When planning our music video we were also thinking about adding a little intro like the sound of the piano chair moving. This would give the video a little more of a story before the footage even shows up on screen.
The story is another problem we have. Right now, without the performance, there isn't a lot happening in the video which, on the one hand, is kind of what we tried to achieve; more of a focus on cinematography and less on the story. However, we hope that adding the performance to the rough cut will give the music video more context and make it more interesting to the viewer.
All in all, we are quite happy with the outcome of our rough cut and we managed to stick to our initial storyboards which turned out to be incredibly helpful during the editing process and allowed us to visualise our ideas through film.
